Rat Brain Biogenic Amine Levels during Acute and Sub- acute Phosphamidon Treatment with Reference to Behavioral Tolerance

چکیده
Organophosphate (OP) pesticides exert their toxic effects by cholinesterase inhibition and the consequent prolongation of the undesirable effects of accumulation of acetylcholine. However, sustained cholinesterase inhibition through sustained sub-acute administration of organophosphates leads to disappearance of the initial signs of toxicity, termed behavioral tolerance. The present study examines if the levels of amine neurotransmitter substances in rat brain regions are altered during acute and sub-acute

Protective Effects of Morin Hydrate on Acute Stress-Induced Behavioral and Biochemical Alterations in Mice
Introduction: As stress affects the brain both physiologically and chemically, researchers try to find novel anti-stress compounds with beneficial therapeutic effects. In this regard, the effect of stress and its modulation by Morin hydrate was studied using different acute models in mice. Methods: The models employed were anoxic tolerance, swimming endurance, and acute restraint test. Morin h...
متن کاملFerulic acid, a phenolic compound with therapeutic effects in neuropsychiatric disorders, stimulates the production of nerve growth factor and endocannabinoids in rat brain
Introduction: Ferulic acid, a phenolic phytochemical with neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, has shown promising antidepressant-like effects in behavioral studies; however, its mechanism(s) of action have not been fully understood. Based on the contribution of nerve growth factor (NGF) and endocannabinoid signaling (eCBs) to the emotional or antidepressant activ...
متن کاملAssessment of Mercuric Chloride Intoxication in albino Rats on the Basis of Hepatobiochemistry, Serum Biochemistry, Histochemistry & Histopathologh
Background: Exposure to any xenobiotic can disturb the metabolic activities of particular organs. Hence present study is designed to find changes in hepatic biochemistry, histochemistry and histopathology besides serum enzyme levels after acute and sub-acute treatment with mercuric chloride, a heavy metallic compound, in albino rat (Rattus norvegicus). Materials & methods: Thirty albino rat...
متن کاملEffects of psychotropic drugs on nerve growth factor protein levels in the rat brain
Introduction: Psychotropic drugs exert their effects, in part, by increasing neurotrophin levels in the brain. Nerve growth factor (NGF) protein levels after treatment with only a limited number of psychotropics have been determined. The present study was designed in order to evaluate the effects of acute and chronic administration of different psychotropic drugs on NGF protein levels in fiv...
متن کاملCatecholamine Contents of Different Region of Adult Rat Brain Are Altered Following Short and Long-term Exposures to Pb+2
Catecholamine is a group of neurotransmitters that is believed to be responsible for the normal function of animal brain. Physiological and behavioral changes of human body have been reported due to the damage of the brain function following lead exposure. Due to the assumption of lead disposal in brain tissue with two year for its half-life, which results in alteration of brain function, we in...
